TARNANTHI, pronounced tar-nan-dee, is a Kaurna word from the traditional owners of the Adelaide Plains. It means to come forth or appear – like the sun and the first emergence of light, or a seed sprouting. For many cultures, first light signifies new beginnings.
The Art Fair provided an opportunity to buy works of art directly from art centres and independent artists from across the country, and the Festival’s supporting public programs and community events brought the artists voices and vision to a broad audience of international guests, artists, collectors, curators, students, cultural industry professionals and academics.
In 2017 Tarnanthi will take place from 13 October through to 28 January 2018 (with a program of activities across the first ten days of the event, including the Art Fair to be held 13 – 15 October).
Full program details to be announced shortly.
