In this unit, students will:
- explore how film can convey layers of meaning when representing First Nations Peoples
- delve into how the film The Sapphires conveys ideas about identity, history and First Nations Peoples
- be immersed in narratives that develop their understanding of these topics
- complete short answer questions and an extended podcast response to demonstrate their understanding.
A technical analysis of the film is paired with this significant historical context to explore the complexity of concepts surrounding racism and identity, how identity’s created and how ideas about identity are shaped.
