Unit overview

In this unit, students will:

  • gain an understanding of primary and secondary sources
  • learn to identify and gather information from primary and secondary sources
  • take part in a sandbox dig to examine evidence and learn how to classify and record their findings
  • investigate Lake Mungo and other evidence from the deep past
  • understand the significance, purpose and preservation of oral history and ancient sites for First Nations Peoples.

The sandbox dig and the short response questions at the end of the unit are opportunities for students to demonstrate their learning.
