Unit overview

This unit explores how the identity of First Nations Peoples, including concepts of resilience and cultural storytelling, is embedded in a performance culture, where nonverbal communication is valued.

Students will inquire into:

  • the power of contemporary dramatic performance in telling the stories of the past and the present
  • storytelling as a dramatic art and a powerful teaching tool
  • active film elements and dramatic technique
  • First Nations artists and how a story can be told through drama
  • significant stories that tell of resilience and cultural identity.
