Unit overview
This unit combines reading, writing and oral language that’s centred on small groups reading novels by First Nations authors. The activities guide students to explore the themes of the texts and consider multiple perspectives on characters, settings and events through writing activities. The unit broadens to assist students to consider the bigger questions of the Australian context for First Nations authors both now and in the past. It guides students to think about how hearing stories by authors with a range of cultural backgrounds can help community members to understand each other.
