This 90-minute interactive course for individuals is a great starting point to help teachers rethink First Nations perspectives, and provide a unique framework with which they can approach these topics in the classroom.
Building Confidence Course
You’ll learn about ways to approach Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives in the classroom by exploring 5 Key Ideas. We’ll introduce you to an identity and culture activity that you can do with your students and give you an activity worksheet as well as a guide to how to use it in the classroom. You’ll hear stories and perspectives told by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. You can pause the course to take notes and start it again as many times as you like.

What can I expect from this course?

How long does the course go for?
The course goes for 1 hour. We suggest you allow at least 1.5 hours, to give you time to look through the supporting materials you’ll receive at the end. You can pause it to take notes and start it again as many times as you like. -
Does the course content address any of the Australian Cross-curriculum Priorities?
Yes. Content in this course will help you teach the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Histories and Cultures Cross-curriculum Priority. -
Which AITSL Standard will watching this course help me meet?
This course will help you meet AITSL Standard 1.4: Strategies for teaching Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and 2.4: Understand and respect Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to promote reconciliation between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians. -
Is this suitable for students?
This video is intended to help teachers embed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives into their teaching. Depending on the age of your students some content may not be age-appropriate.

What access will I get?
