Unit overview
This resource explores the attributes of both geometric and organic shapes and where these shapes can be found in everyday life, on Country and in First Nations Peoples’ artworks. It looks at ways First Nations Peoples use shapes and symbols to share messages.
The aims of this unit are for students to be able to:
- identify geometric and organic shapes in familiar contexts and on Country
- sort and describe shapes based on their attributes
- recognise the value of shapes and symbols in First Nations Peoples’ histories and cultures
- recognise the value of shapes and symbols in First Nations Peoples’ artworks as a way of communicating information
- create artworks as means of communication.
