Unit overview
Through the learning in this unit, students will:
- better understand Australia’s system of government and how it differs from First Nations systems
- analyse the impacts of colonisation on First Nations Peoples, particularly regarding land, governance and justice
- identify how laws are made and changed in Australia and evaluate how this process can be more inclusive
- communicate informed civic ideas using formal and persuasive formats, such as public submissions
- participate in civic action projects that incorporate First Nations perspectives, and advocate for fairness and inclusion.
