Unit overview
In this unit, students:
- understand the long history of bread making and how First Nations people are the first bakers
- explain chemical processes used by First Nations people to detoxify seeds so they’re safe for consumption
- explain the process of fermentation and apply this to the practices of First Nations people in making ethanol
- identify different methods being used in different regions of the continent based on availability of resources.
