Unit overview
In this unit, students will:
- compare the observable properties of soils, rocks and minerals and investigate why they’re important resources
- discover how rocks and minerals are used by First Nations Peoples
- cultivate a deeper understanding of the scientific knowledges and technical creativity that have been passed down for many thousands of years
- develop a greater understanding of the reasons certain materials are chosen for specific purposes
- extend their vocabulary to include the descriptions of properties for rocks and minerals.
