Unit overview
In this unit, students will:
- explore a place that’s special to them
- consider what ‘Country’ is and First Nations people’s connection to Country/Place
- create sketches in nature
- consider the importance of caring for Country
- analyse artworks by First Nations artists that explore visual conventions, processes and materials
- explore how some First Nations artists use natural materials to create art that connects them to Country
- create an artwork representing their special place using natural materials
- explore the use of lines and patterns used in some First Nations artworks to connect to Country
- identify the link between stories, art and Country for First Nations artists
- share and communicate their connection to a special place.
