Unit overview
In this unit, students will:
- learn and practise key vocabulary in the target language
- research the languages of Traditional Custodians of the land on which their school and home sits to understand and investigate the importance of language
- examine the impact that First Nations languages have on First Nations Peoples’ identities and connection to place
- investigate the responsibilities of First Nations language custodians and target language custodians
- understand the complexity of family separation and how that affects identity as a language learner
- explore the significance of spiritual and physical connection to Country for First Nations Peoples and to place for people of the target culture
- learn and practise key vocabulary for expressing themselves in the target language
- complete an assessment to demonstrate their learning.
