Unit overview
In this unit, students will:
- investigate the history and development of Australia’s national anthem ‘Advance Australia Fair’
- consider the message and impact of the lyrics and how they might be adjusted to best reflect all who call Australia home
- reflect on the purpose and impact of anthems around the world
- explore note range, register and musicality of anthems
- understand ICIP protocols, how they apply in case studies and their own roles as listeners and creators
- select, arrange and perform an inclusive alternative anthem to represent the nation.
